Los Angeles, California – The Peristat Group launches new service for home-based Macular Degeneration (AMD) testing. Following the successful introduction of its first automated technology for online glaucoma testing, the Peristat Group launches a follow-on service for the screening and remote monitoring of AMD. The new technology enables doctors and their patients with dry and wet AMD, as well as people at risk for macular degeneration, to monitor retinal function and disease progression over the internet. Through a subscription service with www.keepyoursight.com, people can access the new test called Macustat online from their home. The system “turns” the home computer into a diagnostic station and for less than 10 minutes the test creates a functional “scan” of the retina to detect even the slightest abnormalities and changes related to AMD. This unprecedented service enables highly reliable and precise diagnostics for best-in-class care. Both patients and doctors can stay in control even outside the office and between appointments. Macustat received FDA clearance earlier this year.
More than 1 million people have Wet AMD and over 10 million have Dry AMD in the US. Since there is no pain involved, the symptoms of AMD appear late, once vision is lost. With routine testing every week or every month, keepyoursight.com ensures the best odds against two of the leading causes of blindness – glaucoma and AMD. Peristat delivers the future of telemedicine today!

April 2004
Barcelona, Spain - The International Perimetric
Society has selected Peristat to present
its research at the annual meeting in Barcelona. IPS
is the academic forum that features the latest
advances in visual field testing and glaucoma
diagnosis. After the demonstration of its
perimetry system in the US, the Peristat
Group has received considerable attention
form both industry and academia for its glaucoma
screening technology. The Peristat system
provides a much needed solution in the efforts
for cost-effective screening of glaucoma,
and is currently undergoing final pilot testing
before its scheduled launch in June 2004.
November 2003
Los Angeles, California - The Peristat
test receives clearance with the FDA as an
automated perimetry device for visual field
analysis. Peristat is the only FDA-registered
clinically-validated virtual perimetry for
patient self-testing and glaucoma screening.
The system is a product of years of clinical
research and investigation by physicians
and scientists who bring together the latest
advances in ophthalmology and information
technology.
April 2003
Ft. Lauderdale, Florida - The Peristat
group was invited to present the results
of its clinical trial at the annual meeting
of the Association for Research in Vision
and Ophthalmology. The clinical investigation
conducted at USC reports the efficacy of
the test for the detection of moderate to
severe visual field defects from glaucoma.
The study compared the Peristat test to standard
office perimetry in patients diagnosed with
glaucoma. Virtual perimetry correlates closely
with in-office testing and achieves 85-90%
accuracy for scotoma detection.
February 2002
Los Angeles, California - Peristat received
the Nesburn Award for best research in ophthalmology. The
research team from the University of Southern
California was credited for the development
of the first clinically validated virtual
perimetry system for the screening and prevention
of glaucoma. Glaucoma is a silent disease
that affects more than 2 million people in
the US. More than half are undiagnosed due
to the lack of a cost-effective screening
system, and many more find out about their
disease too late in its course to benefit
from timely treatment. The Peristat is a
new test that allows patients to check their
peripheral vision for subtle changes related
to glaucoma in much the same way eye doctors
do with expensive medical equipment in their
offices. |
